Just a few minutes!
Keep jars of nuts on your counter, and you will be able to make this cereal easily within minutes! Make ahead and store in a jar for easy grab and go breakfasts or snacks!
4 servings- adjust to make as little or as much as you want per batch
1 cup uncooked oats- preferably Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Oats
1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
pinch of coconut sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Chopped fruit of choice. The picture shows 1/2 of a chopped apple and 1/2 of a chopped banana served in the bowl with unsweetened original Silk almond/coconut milk.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Add first four ingredients to a baking pan and spread out evenly.*
Sprinkle a pinch of coconut sugar over the nuts as well as the 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Place the pan in the oven and roast for 8-10 minutes or desired "toasting" is reached.
Allow to cool while you chop some fresh fruit to add to your cereal bowl.
Combine nuts, oats, fruit, and add your favorite unsweetened original nut milk.
Enjoy your homemade cereal!
*If you prefer to have the oats less toasted, you can place them in a separate pan and roast for half the time- or until desired.
Variations can include adding flaxseed, or hempseed as well or in place of one of the nuts mentioned. Keep in mind that while you are consuming healthy fat, you will not want to eat an entire batch in one sitting! Watch your portion size, and also be mindful of how you feel. You may need to increase the oats and decrease the amount of nuts depending on your digestive health.
