Spring is a beautiful time! We reflect on our spirituality, new life is seen everywhere we look in nature, and we often find ourselves "spring cleaning" our homes. I'm sure you have your own spring routines. As we move into springtime I like to re-examine my habits and promises I made to myself in January. Yes, we are already halfway to summer!
Those who work with me know that I am a proponent of limiting cane sugar intake, and I actually try to eliminate it from my own diet... and then a holiday comes and somehow it sneaks in the house! Hmmmm... The good news for me is that when I do occasionally eat sugar, my body quickly reminds me that I don't like the way I look or feel for the days to follow.
Many of my clients report that the hardest meal of the day for them to manage is breakfast. While smoothies are a wonderful option, as are eggs for most people, it is nice to be able to have a cold cereal once in a while. But if you are like me, and try to eat real, whole food, and stay away from prepackaged, this can be a challenge.
To help you start your day off with a healthy breakfast, I have decided to share my go to homemade toasted nut & oatmeal cold cereal recipe with you! Use it as a guide to create a cereal with your favorite fruit and nuts. You'll notice that I use a pinch of coconut sugar in this recipe; I have also made it without a sweetener. Instead I mash a banana, or mash fresh berries, stirring them into the toasted oats and nuts. If you have already worked to eliminate sugar from your diet, your taste buds will probably like this option. If you are still somewhat of a sugar addict :), you will probably want a little coconut sugar.
I hope you enjoy your spring, and if you would like more information on how to find balance from nutrition in your food, career, relationships, exercise...life, I am here to help! Contact me today for a complimentary breakthrough session!
