"What is food to one man may be bitter poison to others." Lucretius, Roman poet & philosopher

The immune system can be a double-edged sword. It should react appropriately and protect against infection when confronted with harmful invaders or "infectious agents" like viruses or bacteria. Unfortunately for some, exposure to common foods, chemicals, molds, and herbs may trigger chronic activation of the immune system.

For more than 25 years, the ALCAT Test has provided healthcare professionals and their patients with a tool for managing a wide variety of conditions linked to inflammation and chronic activation of the immune system such as:

Digestive Disorders * Chronic Fatigue * Autoimmune Disease * Migraines * Aching Joints * Obesity * Skin Disorders * and many more symptoms!

Common everyday problems like migraines, aching joints, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, eczema, hyperactivity, ADD, ADHD, asthma, and even obesity have been linked to food sensitivity and chronic activation of the immune system.

The ALCAT Test is a simple blood test that can be used to identify food and other factors that induce innate immune system activation. It measures changes in the size and volume of white blood cells in response to ex vivo challenges with foods, chemicals, and other environmental stimuli.

The ALCAT Test is more effective than the standard Immunoglobulin G (IgG) tests because they rely exclusively on one immune pathway: serum levels of IgG. High food specific IgG titers are indicative only of exposure, not necessarily intolerance. Therefore, high frequency of consumption or overexposure may lead to false positives with IgG tests.

What is the ALCAT Test?

THE ALCAT TEST IDENTIFIES FOOD INTOLERANCES & SENSITIVITIES

The ALCAT Blood Test identifies cellular response to food chemical derived substances for the purpose of identifying triggers of the patient's innate immune activity. Many modern maladies are evidenced in the effects of chronic inflammation. The cellular processes that occur; either swelling, (vacuolization) decrease in number, (destruction following de-granulation) or shrinking, (probably partial de-generation) are measurable through the ALCAT Test. The ALCAT test provides the basis for an optimized targeted nutrition protocol to support the immune balance.

The ALCAT Test is an immune stimulation test, in which the patient's white blood cells are challenged by up to 460 food and chemical substances. Immune cell changes (predominately neutrophils and lymphocytes) are measured by the ROBOCAT II medical diagnostic device; the resulting measurements are compared against the patient's baseline.

The inflammatory defense mechanisms are activated that cause inflammation and usually present a useful effective defense strategy in the event of an acute infection or directed as a defense against pathogens. Chronic systemic inflammation, however, can lead to gastrointestinal pathologies, problems with the skin, respiratory tract, or joints as well as obesity and metabolic issues.

The efficacy of the ALCAT Test is documented in numerous studies, including double-blind challenges. Research and development has spanned 30 years and has yielded many clinical successes. Studies confirm significant reduction in or complete elimination of symptoms is possible following patient avoidance of reactive foods and chemicals.
